Pepper is the first "Maine Coon" that I bought.
I'd been searching the internet and buy/sell sites for quite a while, and for some reason, this ad was the one I settled on. With Pepper, my adventures as a breeding rebel began.

The woman I bought Pepper from seemed to be a nice enough person. We made arrangements to meet in a parking lot in Leduc, AB, I handed her $350.00 cash, and she handed me a scrawny supposed Maine Coon kitten. As time went on, I did some research and found a couple of photographs of her cats and her home, and they were far from Maine Coons. All the shots I found were outdoors with unpainted, dilapidated backgrounds of what I presume to be barns of some degree.

You'll see that before we even considered breeding, we had the medical work done, testing negative for FeLV (Feline leukemia virus) and FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus). Then genetic genetic testing for Maine Coon Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Maine Coon Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Basepaws was a new company in the pet genetic market, and I had her and all my other non-purebred cats tested. They sent me the results, which were 94% similar to Siberian, and that's what I marketed her and her offspring as. Since that first report, Basepaws has changed the results on their website without any notice.
