HOW IT BEGAN

In about 2017, I got it in my head that I wanted a Maine Coon cat.

The last cat I'd bought was in the early 1970's, and I paid a whopping $20.00 for him.

In those days, you looked in the local newspaper's classified section, found some interesting ads, and gave those people a call.

You went to their home and met the mom and the kittens firsthand.

You played with them for a while and chose the one that seemed to suit you and your family best. Then, off you went with your new baby to start a new adventure.

They weren't 'family members' in those days (although they were undoubtedly a huge part of the family).

That cat, a Siamese x Burmese kitten, lived with me for the next twenty-one years, and he went everywhere with me.

We moved a couple of times, including to the next province, British Columbia, and back again, and he was with me for my first and second marriages.

Scammers Everywhere!

Fast forward to 2017 and my search for another cat.

I was flat-out astonished at what was happening in the world!

Every long-haired kitten was advertised as a Maine Coon, a Siberian Forest Cat, or a Norwegian Forest Cat, and they were asking hundreds of dollars for these kittens, and - people were paying it!

I looked into purebred catteries advertised on the internet and Facebook, but the options were overwhelming, the catteries were charging thousands of dollars, and --- the scammers were everywhere there too!!!
